Rock climbing! Up up up we go :D

So on Friday, Jamie, Mel and me went rock climbing at Transition in Aberdeen! To be honest I didn't really want to go at first cause we had to meet at 9.45am and my lectures only started at 2 so I was looking forward to sleeping till 12. But I went eventually and it was a good morning ^^

Transition is a centre in aberdeen which provides indoor rock-climbing facilities, I've only been there once before this and the first time I walked into the rock climbing stadium I was overwhelmed!
Check out their website: http://www.transition-extreme.com/

So my morning adventure.....
Morning bed hair ><

Tied up and ready ^^

Me and Mel (I had to force her to take this one!)

Check out the tall walls! And this is only one side as well

"Hmm...Shall we do this?"

"We shall!" And Jamie ties Mel's rope

This is how it's done ;)

Getting ready to start...! (She did really well)

Bouldering wall

And just before this, Jamie said "Chantal why are you so short?!" It's because we were playing a game and he was trying to find a rock suitable for me haha

My mischief hehehe xP

Me :D

More me! Acting cute... =="

I found this funny :P

Personally, I felt that I didn't climb as much compared to last time but I think sleepiness was part of the reason. I should really learn to sleep more! It was still a good day though :D Wells good morning at least because..

My last Friday lecture usually ends at 5 but the lecture decided to end about 10 minutes earlier, so I thought to myself happily "oh I can catch the 5ish train back home! ^^" FAT HOPE.
Walked out of the building and saw my bus go past, at that point I was thinking "there goes my bus" but still wasn't put down because the buses usually come quite often and since it's like peak period (where people finish work) they should come more often right? WRONG! For the next 10 minutes, not a single bus went past and so I thought "there goes my train....." But then a bus came! And I was super excited since it was an express bus which means I would get to town quicker. Unfortunately, I was still late and missed the train by 2 minutes. TWO WHOLE MINUTES!! Train people why can't you make the trains leave a little later..?!?!?!?!

Okay I shall stop before I start on a mega rant.

Goodnight. I start at 9 tomorrow :(

Chocolates At Uni!

A lecture was delivering his last lecture for the semester to us today and so he presented us with CHOCOLATES! Yum! He's the first lecturer that we've all applauded for this term. I suspect it's because he's been feeding us well ;)

Check:

I love it when I get free food :D

On a random note, Jamie and I had the weirdest conversation the other day:

Me: Jamie I think I'm sexy

Jamie: No you're not, you can be considered cute/adorable at the most
Me: No I think I'm sexy
Jamie: Uh... I don't think so
              Me: I'm sexy
             Jamie: Ummmm
              Me: Just admit I'm sexy
             Jamie: Okay you're sexy. Happy?
              Me: No. Hahaha
Sometimes I wonder why people are friends with me

Silver Linings Playbook movie and Wagamama

Recognise this? Yep I went to watch Silver Linings Playbook last night with Ecks and Jons, 2 of my guy friends :) When we bought the tickets, the girl asked us if we wanted front middle or back and naturally we said back of course, then we got the seats closest at the back ==" Ecks was so funny though, he said "I don't like these seats, I'm raging! I'm raging!" All i could do was laugh in his face haha and being the nice one, I offered to have the wall as my cosy companion.

Personally I didn't think the movie was that great although I loved the ending! But then I'm a sucker for happy endings so that's no surprise :P I have to admit though, it's been a while since the movie has ended and I like it better now than when it first ended, maybe because the boys explained to me some of what happened and I get it more now but the beginning was still a bit of a drag.

So here's what happened:

***WARNING: SPOILERS!***

Pat is a man who was released from a mental institution (he was put in there because he snapped and beat up the man his wife was sleeping with, turned out he was bipolar) and not wants to get back together with his estranged wife - Nikki. Unfortunately, Nikki moved out and sold their marital home and had a restraining order put against Pat.
Pat was then invited to dinner by his friend Ronnie where he was introduced to Tiffany - Ronnie's sister-in-law, who is also suffering from a mental disorder. Despite having his guard up against Tiffany at first, Pat slowly warms up to her and even takes her out to dinner, where Tiffany agrees to pass on a letter from Pat to Nikki. Later however, Tiff refuses to pass on the letter unless Pat agreed to be her partner for a dance event. Although reluctant at first, Pat agrees eventually.
As Pat and Tiff begin their dance practices, Pat finds himself being attracted to her and Tiff also gives him Nikki's reply to his letter. On the other hand, Pat's family disapprove of his hanging out with Tiff because they think she will bring him down, but when Pat's father lost a bet, Tiff appeared with a proposition which changed the family's opinion of her. The proposition was Pat's father making a bet on another match, which he later turned to a double bet: that his team wins the match and Pat and Tiff get a 5 or above on their dance score. Pat did not agree with the bet and refused to participate in the dance competiton and everyone decided that the only way is to lie to Pat that Nikki would be there watching him dance and that would improve her image of him.
On the day of the competition, Tiff found out that Nikki did actually come and her mood changed drastically. They still danced and received a score of 5, to which they scream and shout in excitement. Pat's father then shared the news that he won the match bet. We then see Pat walking over to Nikki and whispering something in her ear and when Tiff saw this, she left, upset.
Pat returns to his family, finds Tiff gone and chases after her, telling her that he knew it was her who replied to his letter and that he loves her.
The end.
***Spoilers end***

After the movie I told the guys that I was bored, they weren't impressed and said they took the wrong person haha. Then we went to Wagamama for dinner. Wagamama is a british-japanese restaurant (japanese restaurant opened by brits) and I cannot remember when I was last there... must have been at least 6 months ago. I don't love love the place, but going there once in awhile is not too bad ^^"

My Chicken Katsu Curry

Eric's dinner (cannot remember the name)

Didn't take a picture of Jonny's because his came first and I didn't think of taking pictures then.

The Chicken Katsu Curry was very good as usual, I love fried chicken! But the curry was spicier than I remember. Tried Ecky's and his was milder! Should've swapped with him.

Then it was time for desserts! We don't get desserts often but all 3 of us were still hungry, so...

My Passionfruit Cheesecake <3

Jonny's Coconut Reika

Ecky got passionfruit froyo which I didn't take a picture of. It did not look interesting. Oh yeah all pics are taken with Ecky's iPhone, because mine ran out of battery :( charged it before I left as well!

Then I went home and went to bed.

I'm glad my first lecture is at 2 today.

How To Study Effectively

Hello ^^

Yesterday I blogged because I couldn't focus on studying, I did manage to study in the end so I decided to share some study methods :)

Studying is essential for every student - unless you do like design, then it's more about the inspirations and project work - and if we don't study, there will only be one outcome: fail. Unless you’re a genius. But not everyone is that special :(

Personally, I find that it’s very difficult to get into the studying mood because there will always be something to distract me – TV, laptop, ipad, phone, eating, going out, reading. Basically anything that means I don’t need to revise, and that also means a last minute cramming session the night before.

The equation is simple:
Distractions = No revision = Last minute cramming = FAIL

Unfortunately, failing means no degree at the end so we all have to study.

So here are some ways that I find helpful (you’ve probably already heard of them but I find they work for me) -

1.   Study desk

Many people will think this is redundant but having a specific study area will allow you to get into that studying mood quickly. Psychologically, your mind will know that if when you’re sitting at that table you want to study and the need to find distractions disappears. Having a study table also means that studying is much easier because all the books and information you need will be at that one place and you don’t have to roam around the house searching for study materials.

When prepping a permanent study desk, make sure to stock up on stationary. You’ll need:

·      Pens
·      Notebooks
·      Highlighters
·      Ruler
·      Post-its
·      Correction Tape

You'll probably need other stationary items depending on what you're studying but this should be the minimum. Also have a clock or timer on the table to let you know how long you've studied for and to take regular breaks, which leads me to my next point

2.   Take regular breaks.

I know people who can study for 5/6 hours at a time but that simply has no effect on me. I’ll just end up being extremely bored, reading the same page over and over again and day-dreaming. I’ve read an article before which says that you should study for an hour at the most each time and take a short break before resuming. Personally I feel that studying for 45 minutes and taking a 15-minute break is the best combo. That way, the material that you just went through will have an opportunity to sink in before you start another topic/chapter/subject.

So what do you do in your break? Go to the toilet, have some snacks, reply to texts, watch some television (not recommended) stare at scenery, do some exercises; the list goes on and on. Watching TV isn’t recommended as there’s a chance of wanting to watch more and not go back to studying. But watching TV as a reward after the studying spree is supported!

3.   Have a study plan

Always plan out what to study before studying. Not during, but before. Knowing what the study plan of the day is will make things a lot easier. It means you don’t have to spend time planning what to study and creating an opportunity to be distracted. The best study plan is to not jump between subjects but to do one before moving on. And have a longer break between subjects to allow your brain to process the previous material before moving on.

Planning is good. Those with a plan will succeed.

4.   Draw/Print diagrams.

“A picture says a thousand words” – so use pictures to help you remember! Writing pages of words will mean nothing if you can’t picture what you need to learn! So draw a picture or graph or flow chart instead of wasting pages writing words and never looking back at them because it’s just blah. Pictures also mean more colour which is much more interesting than just words and will stimulate learning.

5.   Start early

Everyone knows that a last minute cramming session will not help, but why do they still do it? Laziness is usually the answer. The way to be successful is to have a plan and stick to it. Ever heard of the “read today, tomorrow, next week, next month” concept? It works. So if you start revising at the start of the year or the start of term, then by the time exam rolls over, you will be well prepared and have a high chance of getting excellent marks :D
Also, studying maths early is more effective!

Okay that’s all I have for tips~ if I ever think of anything new I will add to the list, or maybe
do another blog post!

Bye bye!

Monday 26 November 2012

Hello :)

Hello world :)

New blog, new post. To be honest i'm not supposed to be blogging right now since I have a test tomorrow which I need to study for (although in all honesty it will probably end up being a fail.

Honestly, I have no idea what happened. The need to blog just became so strong that i just had to give in to it and start a new blog. The plan was to actually blog when I go on holiday to Singapore and have nothing to do – which is next year – but yours truly is a master at procrastination, I’d even start cleaning… thus I am now sitting here blogging.

So blogging, what do people blog about? I love reading lifestyle blogs and beauty blogs and just the things that girls like to read and part of me just thought “hey! Why not do one for myself too right?” Maybe one day people will end up my blog too? Fat dreams I think haha but that would actually be nice, if people cared about what I had to say ^^” Not that they don’t right now but I usually talk quite a lot (but only about 10% is constructive?) and personally, I think if I was listening to me I would tune out as well. But now that I have a platform to ramble on about I can talk as much as I want :D and many rant when I’m not on cloud 9 as well mwahahahaha feel my wrath!!

Okay so what did I do today? Went to uni.. started at 9am.. I remember I once read a report where it mentioned that teens usually get up around 12noon and then that’s when they work best etc. SO WHY DOES SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY STILL START SO EARLY??? I mean, someone wrote a report about it. It must mean something. Maybe if all educationers (is that a word? Education people?) read that report, they will start classes later which will only mean one thing… MORE SLEEP! My love~

Yes I am really rambling on now, I guess I should attempt to study slightly, not that I think it will make much difference.

I’m going to fail. But life still goes on.

So I will be happy :D
