2012 Christmas Sales Haul!

The Crimbo Sales are here and that means just one thing - shopping!

So I may be a student struggling for money (anyone got any jobs to recommend?) but I am still a girl and shopping is known as retail therapy to me! It also helps that once Christmas is over shops go on a massive sale and most of the stock is usually brought down to about 50% of the sale price :D

So here is what I bought in the christmas sales:

Cardigan from Zara

Jeans from Zara - I've been wanting a pair of jeans from Zara for ages now but just never found one that fit or was cheap enough but then I found this~ my wish came true! On a more random note, my legs look very short in this!

Skirt from Republic

Dress from USC - I really love how the dress flows but both my mum and Bex hated it and they said it was too expensive as well (£24) so I decided to return it. Plus the top part was too loose!

Grey dress from USC - I really really love this dress! Ir fits me! Plus it's really cute :) This might be my new year dress ^^

I cropped this picture especially! I realised most of the clothing pictures show my messy room * embarrassed* I will try and edit my pictures more next time haha
What's in the bag..?

...This!

Accessorize lipgloss sets

Sanctuary spa set

This is what's in it! I thought it was really worth it for a fiver

Skin shower and moisturiser set

And, being a student, I managed to find some freebies using the Internet and Boots card :D

Porefessional primer from Benefit. Had a voucher from my Boots card, I also managed to book myself for a makeup session :)

I love the packaging! It's so cute

And another picture to show my love for the packaging

Also I managed to find a voucher online for Biotherm (also at Boots) which entitles me to a free skin consultation and 3 sample sized products. So I took the voucher to the counter and asked if it was available. The sales lady was SO NICE <3 She said they didn't have the machine available for the consultation but gave me not 3, but 6 sample sized products and even talked me through on how to use them! I felt slightly bad, but at the same time she was really nice and if I find a product that I like in the sample I was definitely buy it! But I'm already thinking of buying a lip moisturiser from Biotherm :)

So that's all for my shopping journeys ^^" I know I didn't buy much but there was quite a lot of people in Aberdeen when I shopped and I felt slightly claustrophobic and shopping can get tiring after awhile haha

Hope everyone bought tons! <3

Movie: The Hobbit + day out in inverness ^^

On Wednesday, I went to Inverness with the guys (Ecky, Jonny, Elim) to have lunch and watch the Hobbit. I've never actually watch any of the LOTR (Lord of the Rings for those who don't know) films before because they never appeal to me. I'm more of a Harry Potter, wizard fighting dark lord kind of girl. A bunch of guys looking for a ring? No thanks! Many people are really surprised when I tell them I've never watched it though - well I have watched like parts on TV before changing the channel because I was bored - and they're even more surprised when they find out I have all the DVDs at home. My father and brother are fans, what can I say. Today my dad revealed we also have the books at home. I was like "how come I didn't know??"

But before I dive into the movie, Let's start with food.

Lunch is important and I love food!

When we got to Inverness, we thought of going to The Mustard Seed for lunch. We usually go there and they do a good deal of 2 courses for £6.99 or something.
But.. They were fully booked ><"So we decided to try this new place called the corner grill :)

A picture speaks a thousand words, so here are the pictures~

Menu
So many forks and knives! They must serve decent food haha

They have crackers on the table~ I've never played with one before until that day

Jonny pulled one and.. it's a fan! Did they know we were chinese?

I got mini cards! They're so cute I love them. The fan is also with me because it was decided everything should go into my bag. I was the only girl though so I was the only one with a bag haha

Starter - Mushroom soup. The soup was quite nice but I thought there wasn't enough mushrooms in it.

Main course - Beef burger and Chips. Their chips were MASSIVE. Like about 3-4 times the thickness of McDonald fries! They were so good tho.

Random picture of cards and drink. Shows how small the cards are

Another random picture of the lights in the Inverness shopping centre.

So we were originally planning to catch the 3pm showing, but we finished lunch at 2.30 and since the cinema wasn't in town, we thought we would just catch the next one which was at 4.20 and was a 3D one. Cinema tickets were so expensive £8.20. I'm a student and I'm in debt. Now I'm in even more debt :'(

But going back to the film. Everyone says The Hobbit wasn't as good as the LOTR films but I personally thought it was alright. The beginning was slightly draggy but all the action at the end made up for it. And it has kinda persuaded me to watch LOTR now so I might watch it when I have a day where I'm free and have 9 hours to spare :P

I still have many films I want to watch!

But I need to sleep.

Goodnight :D

Dim Sum Lunch!

So 2 weeks ago, Ron asked me if I was still up to have a Chinese lunch, and I was like why not? Because we have been talking about Chinese food for a while and I always said that I would take them to yum cha - "drink tea" is the direct translation but in cantonese, people refer to having dim sum as "yum cha"

Dim sum looks like this:

It consists of ordering many small dishes to share and these dishes can be steamed, fried, boiled... different chinese ways of cooking with many different tastes :)

So yes Ron was suggesting that we had a dim sum lunch get-together before term ended so we rounded up the usual crowd - Jamie, Sarah, Mel (and Mel's friend was visiting so she came along too) and decided to have it on the last Thursday before the holidays started~

L-R: Me, Sarah, Ron, Rachel, Jamie, Mel

Trying to get everyone in that picture was SO HARD! Because there was so many of us, but mainly because I have short arms haha but I tried my best. And this was one of the 2 pictures I took, the next one being this:

While we were waiting for our food, Mel became mini Santa Claus, giving out presents! I love getting presents, candy cane yums! Jamie broke like at least 2 of them.. so bad... One of them was for Ron's wife as well! Jamie if you're reading this... feel bad! mwahahahahaha

By the time the food came, we were all famished and wanted to dig in, and I was just too busy telling everyone what's what and getting entertained by some wonderful chopstick using skills that I forgot to take pictures. Sorry! I will do so next time :P

Lunch was really good though! I was so worried they wouldn't like it because some people don't but I'm glad everyone enjoyed it! It'll be a Chinese dinner next time :D

Hitting the 20s

Last Sunday, I turned 20! So I’ve blogged about the cons of turning old, but there are some pros to it. I’m probably going to sound stuck up here but forgive me if I do because I don’t mean it. I’m really happy and thankful for everything I have.

I shall start from the morning and presents.

So when I woke up, I did what I usually do every Sunday, get ready, go down for breakfast… you know the works. Went downstairs and my mum is the first to wish me happy birthday~ I love you mummy! Then she asked if I’ve got my dad’s present. Now every year my dad gives me money so I don’t need to guess what it is, but this year I saw this:

 "Irresponsible??!!!"

The first thing I said was “HA!”. Okay I don’t know why there's only one ha, but I am weird so I accept it :P I didn’t expect my father to have a sense of humour, he is usually quite serious. I remember when I was a kid he would be the one who smacked me whenever I did something wrong or was bad – I got smacked A LOT. Up until I was 5 or something. So to me, dad was always the scarier parent and mum is the one I run to when I want something. It’s okay great that my dad doesn’t understand a single word of Chinese so if I really want something and don’t want him to find out I just tell my mum in Chinese haha sneaky I know! Okay I’m moving away again.

After that I just had lunch and went to church and I was teaching the boys RE that day.

Honestly speaking, I really did not expect anything from anyone because Becky already told me that my present would be late and I just didn’t expect anything because it’s my 20th birthday, they aren’t that special once you get older really.

But then Bex walked up to me and passed me a bag from her and Chloe (her sister), which had really cute cupcakes inside and a nice mini present as well! Thank you Becky and Chloe I love you lots!

Look at the cupcakes! <3 They're so cute and yummy as well

Love the wrapping paper! Opened it and it was mini kawaii hand warmer~ perfect for winter :)

Then Eva gave me a present from Ling which was a cute phonecase and a really pretty notebook. I love this kind of notebooks.
This was all I managed to take before running for the train haha

Then Jeffery and Margaret also gave me a present~
Big bag O.o

Ooo bath products :D

Present group photo haha

I feel so loved and touched! :’) Really didn’t expect anything!
This first thing I did when I got home was to take pictures of the things so that I can post it up hahaha
Then I had to leave to catch the train so I could fully appreciate the presents until I came home on Thursday.

Then came dinner time. Now another good thing about birthdays besides presents is the birthday dinner and I was especially looking forward to this year’s dinner because you know our kitchen has been messed up and so I couldn’t cook and sometimes I would starve myself or we would get takeout but end up binning half the food because Becky and I were so sick of takeaway food. But that day, that day was good.

For my birthday dinner we (me, Becky, Carol, Alvin, Jonny, Sean) went to this newish Japanese restaurant called Yatai. Why do I say newish? Because I read the restaurant history on their website and turns out they have been opened in Aberdeen before but shut down for a couple of years before reopening again therefore it is new yet not totally new so newish will have to do. I’m moving away from the topic! Okay back to birthday dinner~

When we went into the restaurant, it just looked like a Japanese restaurant, and it had a Japanese looked bar bit too. But our lots was directed upstairs because they didn’t have space downstairs. When we got to the stair bit… WOW!

Check it out.

I’ve never seen so pretty and romantic stairs before. The blue and the trees just compliment each other so well. In Becky’s words – The picture doesn’t do it any justice.

Menu :)

The food was pretty good, I like CJs (another Jap restaurant) better but the soft shell crab here was a-maz-ing. So soft and tender. It also costs £12.

I apologise for the bad lighting, but the place was quite dim

Look at all the food!

Ribs

Sweet potato skewers

Mini burgers

Salmon

Glutinous rice

Fried squid

Sashimi platter - so pretty I had to enlarge it! Look at the rose ^^"

I like this restaurant but don’t think I’ll go to it often because of the price. Still a good place for special occasions though!

Then a couple of days later I got presents from Jamie and Sarah and Mel~ I love people who are thoughtful! I love my friends :D
Socks from Sarah - nice and warm and cosy!

What's in the box...?

Aww kawaii!! Thank you Jamie :D

As for Mel's present, it was a candycane which I ate before I could take a picture hehe it looks irresistible :P

Thank you everyone! It was a great birthday ^^"
